Proverbs 17: 27 He who has knowledge spares his words and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. 28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
As humans, we never want to be told to be quiet. We often listen to reply, and give our opinions even if they aren’t requested. Christians are often guilty of this as we can be so excited to spread the good news, we don’t stop and assess the situation or person we are addressing. Time after time we miss the mark by making premature judgments and giving messages that fall on un-fertile ground. There is a beauty in allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your tongue. Speaking to God in prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit before you speak is essential in your daily spreading of the word. There is boldness in speaking when you know God gave you permission!
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
