We have all seen the missing child on the back of the milk carton. Some desperate family is out to find their child and has put their hope in the slim chance that someone who is drinking this carton of milk will remember the face and take action in the event that the person posted is seen.
In 2016 NCMEC assisted law enforcement and families with more than 20,500 cases of missing children. 90 percent of those cases were endangered runaways (http://www.missingkids.com/KeyFacts).
When we are Sinners/Non-Believer’s, we purposely separate ourselves from the love of God. Let’s take the time to clarify that statement; we purposely separate ourselves from the love of God, however, God never stops loving us. We run away from God in order to enjoy what we think are the freedoms of life with no rules.
However, the enemy is clever. He understands that sin, at the time, feels amazing but has horrible consequences. The more appealing the enemy can make running away from God look, the better his chances are at ensnaring you into a life of sin. So how does he do this?
Let’s take the time to clarify that statement; we purposely separate ourselves from the love of God, however, God never stops loving us. We run away from God in order to enjoy what we think are the freedoms of life with no rules.
Most children run away from their parents for the following reasons:
- Freedom to make their own choices
- Too many rules
- Something appealing is drawing them outside of the home
We often let our circumstances and lack of understanding of God’s true love draw us away from him. We often feel that if God truly loves us why does he allow us to hurt? Why does he judge our actions while giving us freewill? Why would he put something (like Sin) here if he doesn’t want us to do it? We take all these questions and begin to build our case against God with the enemy as our attorney; and just like any corrupt attorney, the enemy is going for the win at any cost, especially if it means lying to gain your soul!
We often let our circumstances and lack of understanding of God’s true love draw us away from him.
Endangered: Someone at risk or in danger. When we run away from God we immediately become endangered or at risk of spending eternal life away from him. Our sin immediately begins to consume us and the enemy goes in for the kill (John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.) We get so consumed with sin, that we often get truly lost and can’t find our way back to God. Our intentions of running away to be free, often leads us to a life of bondage.
But there is a silver lining! Christ has come to save you! Unlike the many people who have seen your face on the milk carton but sit and wait until they bump into you to do something. Christ has seen your face and is pursuing you! With all his heavenly resources he is after you, looking to heal your hurt, give you true freedom, and defeat the enemy that has you bound!
Luke 15:24 for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
Christ has seen your face and is pursuing you!
God is waiting to celebrate your return! All you have to do give your life to Christ while you still have time. Will you Go with Christ, or continue to run away from his love?
